Petit Saint Vincent is the last island in the Grenadines archipelago, known for its untouched beauty and underwater diversity. Twenty-two villas dot the 115-acre island, allowing guests plenty of room to deserve their well-deserved luxury retreat. It checks all the boxes for a perfect private island: sunny days with a cool sea breeze, an unspoiled landscape, and an array of activities to keep you as busy as you’d like. Your eyes will feast on the green vegetation covering the gently rolling hills, seamlessly transitioning into white sand beaches and bright turquoise waters, begging you to take a dip.

Where Did It All Begin?

In 1962, PSV was a deserted island without water, electricity, or means of communication. That year, two former Air Force Pilots, Hazen K. Richardson II (known as Haze) and Doug Terman, would start a boat charter company with a 77-foot schooner. Their first customer, H.W. Nichols, expressed interest in purchasing an uninhabited island on which he wanted to build a hotel. Haze and Doug searched the Grenadine island chain and found PSV belonging to a lady who lived in Petit Martinique. Though rumored she would never sell, they struck a deal with her, and work began to clear the necessary land in 1966. As luck would have it, Swedish architect Arne Hasselqvist was sailing in the area and agreed to design the 22 cottages and main pavilion that remain today.

Over the years, the hotel has attracted a loyal clientele and has gained a reputation, especially among luxury establishments. It has won many awards for quality and numerous complimentary articles. In 2010, it was purchased by two American entrepreneurs: Robin Paterson and Philip Stephenson. They both fell in love with the charm and beauty of the place. They wanted to preserve the authenticity while tastefully upgrading the space. Above all, they consider it a slice of paradise dedicated to those who appreciate life’s small luxury and nature’s beauty.

Continued Legacy

PSV continues to attract visitors that praise the attention to detail and high-end service provided to all guests. The villas are arranged so each has a different feel – some just steps away from the beach, others on breezy bluffs with stretching views of the horizon. Spend your days exploring the corners of the island with no one around, and rejoin guests in the evening for fine dining at the main pavilion or the beach bar.

Join the sommelier for a tour of the wine cellar. They dispose of a collection of spirits that houses more than 6,000 Old World and New World wines, numerous Caribbean rums aged in barrels, and exquisite vintage champagnes.
